When a sophomore at Baton Rouge High, I became friends with a classmate who had an early '50's Singer, very similar to a MGTD. Back then, every normal guy was into cars. Cars at that time (late Fifties) were just becoming performance oriented, which meant drag racing. My friend let me drive his Singer and explained the theory of cornering and handling which no one had any interest in if you were into drag racing. I started reading Road & Track in the school library and by the time I was a senior, I had lost all interest in drag racing. Went to college for two years and decided to get my draft obligation done with. Next thing I know, I'm in Schweinfurt, Germany learning how to do 50 mile speed marches. One day I walk out of the PX and there is the first Morgan I had ever seen. It was a light dove grey color which I've never seen since. It was "love at first sight".

After the Army, I bought my first sports car, a '59 MGA Twin Cam; finished college at L.S.U.; married; sold the MG and moved to Houston. After a while, I decided it was time for another sports car. At that time (1965), there was a Morgan dealer in New Orleans, so I decided to pay him a visit. A week before I was to go to N.O., a friend said he saw a Cobra for sale at a dealer on Westheimer.

Went to look at it out of curiosity, but bought it. Cobra #122. I was in S.C.C.A. back then and went to all the Gymkhanas with it (never lost). Raced Formula Vees for awhile which was a waste of money.

A few years later, I got hooked on dirt bike racing and forgot about sports cars; (still had the Cobra for 9 years). Then the parting of ways (divorce). Sold the Cobra and dirt bikes; found my true love and married. Then we discovered Catamarans. Marie and I raced our Prindle 16' for four years and wound up Texas State Champions along with taking a fourth place at the Nationals and to this day, Marie still can't swim. We then buy and sell a series of American iron: '55 Chev.; '57 Cadillac; '58 Packard Hawk, '70 AMX.

Then "the" day. I'm looking through the old car section in the Houston Chronicle and there is a Morgan for sale in Santa Fe, Texas. I called and the elderly owner knew nothing about it; only that it's a '64 on the title; doesn't know the number of cylinders, but says it's a G.T.????? We bought it and got in touch with the previous owner in Seabrook who traded the Morgan as part of a real estate deal. He filled me in on how he shipped it from Singapore. That was twelve years ago. "Miss Petite" is now an integral part of the family.
